Meet Chris Ziomek, Promoboxx’s newest Director of Sales! Chris is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Isenberg School of Management, where he studied marketing. He joins the Promoboxx team, bringing along a lot of innovative ideas from his past experience in the startup world. Chris was on the founding team of a startup called CampusLIVE as Director of Business Development. As the company grew from a startup built out of a dorm room at the University of Massachusetts to a Venture Funded Company, Chris interacted with local businesses all the way up to major ad agencies and Fortune 500 brands. CampusLIVE later rebranded to Dailybreak Media. With such great experience in the startup community, we are excited to have Chris join the Promoboxx team. To get to know him better, we asked Chris a few questions. Check out his answers below!
What made you want to join the Promoboxx team?
Ben (Promoboxx CEO) went to UMass and I only work for companies run by UMass grads. Just kidding, but this makes me 2 for 2 in my career working at “UMass run” companies. My real reason for joining is the Promoboxx product. Our technology answers a pretty large need and you are starting to actively see it in the market. More and more blue chip brands are becoming enthusiastic about supporting their biggest advocates, the retailers, from a digital perspective. That mixed with a very talented and energetic team makes Promoboxx very special.
Deserted on an island, what three things do you bring?
A Machete, Sun Glasses, and Bear Grylls.
Best book you’ve ever read?
The Count of Monte Cristo. It’s a classic story of hope, vengeance and justice. What else do you really need in a story?
What do you admire most in a brand?
The ability to blur the lines between a product and a lifestyle. I am going to be a little bit redundant with Adam taking a similar stance in his bio, but I have to ALSO point out Nike. I have had a fierce brand affinity for them since childhood and it is because of the way I identify the brand with sports I’ve played and a look I wear, rather than it just as another product. They are best in the business with that, I can maybe only point out Budweiser as a similar brand who can leverage lifestyle as their main marketing tool with as much ease.
What is one of your favorite things to do in Boston?
Boston April – October is one of the best places to be period. That half of the year I love to be outside and as close to the harbor as possible – preferably eating good food and hanging out with friends and family, taking it all in.
What’s your favorite independent business in Boston?
I would have to say Bodega in Back Bay. It is a great example of how an independent business can operate like it has deep pockets funding it, but with an awesome local flare. A must visit spot if you’ve never been.
