Meet Promoboxx’s newest Marketing Intern, Tyler Cumella! We are so excited to welcome him to our team, and to get to know Tyler better, we asked him a few questions. Check out his answers below!
I graduated from Boston University in 2014 with a degree in Film and Television, as well as a minor in English. Since graduating, I’ve gotten my hands into a number of different things. I’ve worked as a freelancer on a number of different productions, at an independent bakery on Newbury Street, and was a regular writer for BDCwire (an affiliate of the Boston Globe), focusing on film, music, and culture.
I also worked with Skillman Video Group, LLC (a multi-service video production company based in Faneuil Hall), mainly doing various kinds of content writing, marketing coordination, social media account management, as well as co-producing a number of marketing videos. I continue to do freelance social media work for smaller companies in the Boston area.
I’m very interested in Boston’s wonderful, fruitful startup culture, and after doing some research and poking around, I found Promoboxx. I was immediately drawn to the devotion to supporting local retailers and building an overall better business community. Plus, the people were awesome from the start!
So many to love! One of my favorites independent businesses in Boston is definitely the Coolidge Corner Theatre. A historic staple.
Simple enough: To never give up.
Impossible to choose one. I was obsessed with Kurt Vonnegut as a teen. Over the summer I read Taipei, by Tao Lin, American Gods, by Neil Gaiman, and the autobiography of Miles Davis.
Boston has a ton of amazing music venues (from the Paradise Rock Club to Royale), so I love going to different concerts and shows whenever I get the chance. Unfortunately, my wallet takes a beating in the process.
I’ve been a type one diabetic since I was ten years old and have done fundraising with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as well as volunteer work with Camp Setebaid, a camp for children with type one diabetes.
I love to cook (Italian is my go-to). I do screenwriting of all different genres, shapes, and sizes. I’ve also recently started getting into mixing music.
