Promoboxxers joined in the holiday tradition by shopping at local businesses across the United States. Our employees shopped at their favorite local businesses across the United States on Small Business Saturday® alongside an estimated 108 million consumers who shopped or dined at local independently-owned stores. We believe that when you shop local you are not only making a new purchase, you are also having a positive impact on your community.

“I walked into Marathon Sports on Boylston Ave knowing only three things; I need running shoes, I have wide feet, and I’ve got a budget. Being slightly lost and overwhelmed a customer associate asked us if we needed help finding anything. Without hesitating – “Yes!” I told him, and I listed the three things I knew. He pulled out a chair and asked me to remove my shoes.
He carefully watched how I walked and took a precise measurement of my feet. He brought out a few brands, I tried a few on, and soon I had found my new running shoes. The guided and hand tailored experience at Marathon Sports gave me a great feeling of time and money well spent. “Gents, here’s a pro tip. Tucked away in Boston’s South End is one of the best local independent retailers to take your pup for a walk and shop for the lady in your life: Flock Boston. This fun, dog-friendly retailer curates a collection of stylish modern bohemian clothing and unique accessories you won’t find everywhere else. Take your best friend to socialize in South Boston’s most popular dog park, the “Bark Plaza,” featuring crushed stone and a water fountain for dogs, and then pick out a surprise for other best friend on the way home. That’s a win-win any day!

“To support Small Business Saturday, I headed to a toy store in my hometown called Kiddly Winks, a local gem I’ve loved since I was a kid myself. I was shopping for my niece and nephew, and I was a bit overwhelmed when I walked through the door. Having no children of my own, I had no idea what was appropriate for specific age groups, what the most popular toys were these days or which brands had the best reputation with parents.
My concerns were immediately assuaged when I was greeted by a sales associate asking if I needed any assistance. I was soon learning about a brand that makes all of their toys from recycled materials (another cause I love to support) and the best toys for babies that promote both fun and development. I was thrilled to see Kiddly Winks promoting Small Business Saturday with signs posted throughout the store, and rewarding those who spent over $75 with a goodie bag. “Shopping on Black Friday, in the small town of Occoquan, Virginia, was an experience filled with holiday cheer and independent store pride. Streets were lined with “Small Business Saturday” balloons and bunting, and historic homes and buildings were decorated with wreaths and ribbons alike, making for a remarkable shopping trip in a town of just over 1,000 residents.
