What made you want to join the Promoboxx team?

Team and culture were definitely high priority for me, but I also really liked the mission of making the lives of retailers easier and how the brands will benefit. I know this sounds simple to say, but seeing how beneficial using Promoboxx is for both sides really hit home for me.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

“You can’t afford not to take risks” – I remember hearing this from a guest speaker that I really wasn’t all that enthralled with during my undergrad years (let’s just say awhile ago). I remember feeling like I hadn’t really gotten anything from the speaker, but this quote he ended his presentation has really stuck with me. I love being able to use on it on friends who are facing tough decisions (and try to use it myself as much as possible).

What do you admire most in a brand?

Besides the obvious of having a quality product or service, I love when brands are able to really move their customers with the marketing they do and have their customers talking about it after. The World Cup always has great campaigns which my friends and I always share with one-another. This ad came out recently.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Boston?

My wife and I moved here about a year and a half ago, so we still kind of feel like tourists. Going to Fenway for a ball game is always a good time so that would be high on my list, but just checking out new parts of the area is always fun.

What is something that not many people know about you?

My dad started a Sno-Kone business when I was about 12 going to public events around PEI, Canada (where I am from). It was pretty cool to learn about costs, marketing (with no budget), and overall how to make a profit. Oh, and giving Sno-Kones away to my friends for free was always fun.

What’s your favorite independent business in Boston?

I have two. First, you can’t help but have love for Marathon Sports on Boylston, given everything that went on last year, plus they have a great selection. The other is Monkey Sports in Norwood. Being from Canada, I was pretty much raised on skates and I still play hockey as a goalie, so checking out all their gear is pretty fun. If you’re a goalie, go check it out (they have a couple other locations around the country).
