Faces of Promoboxx: Meet Dan Gentile

The Promoboxx team continues to grow! We’d like you to meet our new Product Manager, Dan Gentile. We are so excited to welcome Dan to our team, and to get to know him better, we asked him a few questions. Check out the answers below!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I spent the better part of my childhood about thirty minutes northwest of Boston in Carlisle, MA (though I moved around a bit when I was younger). I went to college at Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, majoring in American Studies.

Prior to Promoboxx, I spent three years at Bain Capital and nearly two years at another Boston-based startup, Drizly.

What made you want to join the Promoboxx team?

One of the things you learn when working at a startup is that the greatest idea is only as good as the people building it. Promoboxx is building an innovative and impactful software, but it was the smart, passionate, dedicated people that I met here that really sold me on joining the team.

What’s your favorite independent business in Boston?

This is tough, because I have so many favorites, but my current choice is Three Little Figs in Somerville. They have really good coffee and some of my favorite sandwiches in the area — and they happen to be two minutes from my house, which is amazing.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

One of my first bosses at Bain told me that being stressed about your work is a good thing — it means you care, and you’re learning. That’s been a very valuable perspective for me to maintain throughout my career.

Best book you’ve ever read?

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, by Michael Chabon, is a personal favorite. I read it for the first time in high school and always find myself returning to it every few years.

What do you admire most in a brand?

I love brands that are able to innovate and grow while remaining true to their core identity.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Boston?

Hands down, my favorite thing to do in Boston is go see a Red Sox game at Fenway. I’m a baseball nut, and there really isn’t anything quite like a beautiful summer day at the ballpark.
