Small Biz Spotlight: Morehouse Appliances LLC.

Welcome to our Small Biz Spotlight series – an interview series focusing on local retailers and what makes them special. At Promoboxx we are declaring November as Retailer Appreciation Month! As part of this month, we are publishing blog posts to highlight some of the great retailers we work with and support every day. For this installment, we spoke with Christian Korosec from Morehouse Appliances LLC

Tell us a bit about Morehouse Appliances.

Established in 1894, we are the oldest and most experienced appliance retailer serving central New York. With products ranging from basic models to top of the line professional appliances, we are sure to have what you are looking for. Our tradition is founded on providing the best value and customer service available. We don’t charge extra for local delivery or installation of free-standing appliances. Should you need repairs on an appliance, our service department can help with that.

What makes your store different, unique, stand out from the crowd?

In the sea of “big box” stores, it is hard to find a good value while not sacrificing service. We offer the entire package here by providing superior service.

Tell me about a time the business had to overcome a challenge.

Morehouse Appliances was originally founded as H.D. Morehouse in 1894 in Utica, NY. Founder, Henry D. Morehouse was a tradesman with skills as a tinsmith and blacksmith. As the automobile came into favor, his trade as a blacksmith diminished, the model “T” didn’t use horseshoes. Concentrating on tinsmithing, he expanded into stove pipe and selling coal and wood burning stoves. In later years other products offered included ice boxes, manufactured gas burning stoves, and gas and electric powered wringer washers.

Does Morehouse Appliances LLC. host or take part in any events outside of normal day to day operations, such as fundraisers or community events? If so, tell us a bit about it!

We heavily support many local organizations. The biggest would include The Ride for Missing Children and the Children’s Miracle Network.

If you had one piece of advice about digital marketing for a new retailer in the industry, what would it be?

What is on the client’s phone tends to relate to sales.

Any other details that you would like us to share or highlight?

Being a retailer for over 100 years while staying true to our customer service focused roots is the most important thing about us.
