See You At Aligned! Here Are Some Fun Things To Do In Town

There’s just a week left until the Aligned Conference, which will be hosted at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel, right in the hub of Boston excitement.  Whether you’re just staying for the three day conference or extending your stay to soak up a little bit more of the city, there’s a plethora of fun things to do.  Check out just a few of our recommendations!

EAT

WATERFRONT

Aragosta Bar and Bistro Located right in the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel, Aragosta is a great spot for dinner, drinks, or lounging by the water for appetizers.  Serving up contemporary Italian cuisine, Aragosta calls itself a restaurant “where Italian meets New England.”

QUICK BITES

Sam LaGrassa’s–  Located on 44 Province Street, this sandwich shop is touted by many to have the best sandwiches in the world and has been spotlighted on a slew of television programs from Phantom Gourmet to ABC Nightlife.  Every sandwich is piled high with meats and other fresh ingredients.

Galleria Umberto– Located on 289 Hanover Street, Umberto’s may have a modest menu, but this pizzeria cooks everything on it to perfection and is one of Ben Carcio’s favorites in the North End.  This is a great place to grab a quick beer or wine with lunch and has plenty of seating.  Make sure to get there when they’re open, Monday-Saturday 11am-3pm.

FINE DINING

Menton– Located on 354 Congress Street, Menton is a AAA Five-Diamond restaurant and listed on Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star list.  This restaurant is a blend of French and Italian cuisine and a modern interpretation of fine dining.

LOCAL LEGEND

Giacomo’s Ristorante– Located on 355 Hanover Street, Giacomo’s has a cult following for its authentic Italian food.  This old-school ristorante takes cash only and often has a lengthy line, but reviewers say that it is well worth the wait.  The food comes out quickly and the portions are huge, usually leaving a smile on diners’ faces who get to take a decent sized portion home for later enjoyment.

SEAFOOD

Island Creek Oyster Bar– Located on 500 Commonwealth Ave, ICOB has top quality seafood fresh from the water and superior service.  The restaurant has a chic and modern interior with a New England vibe.  Reviewers rave about many items on the menu including their oysters, clam chowder, and a dish called Lobster Roe Noodles.

DESSERT

Mike’s Pastry– Located on 300 Hanover Street, Mike’s Pastry is just about as close to heaven as you can get on earth. This place is lined with shelves upon shelves of delicious pastry goodness. They’re reputed to have the best cannolis, so make sure to pick up a couple.. or a couple dozen.

Yacht Rock Harbor Cruise– Pack your boat shoes! As part of the Aligned Conference, attendees will set sail Thursday evening on The Valiant, a premier luxury yacht, from Fan Pier for a night of fun and great harbor views.

Sam Adams Brewery– Located on 30 Germania Street, the Sam Adams Brewery is a terrific spot to hangout at and see how they make their iconic Boston Lager and other award winning beers.  Get a tour and try samples of classic and seasonal offerings.  Go ahead, tell your friends that you’re there for the historical knowledge.

Faneuil Hall– Located on 4 S Market Street, Faneuil Hall is a go-to spot for those visiting Boston, complete with shopping, bars, restaurants, and street entertainment. The Marketplace is a five-minute walk to the New England Aquarium, The Children’s Museum, The Old State House, and Paul Revere’s House.

The Freedom Trail– Weaving throughout the city, The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile, brick-lined route that takes you through 16 sites of historical significance.  Museums, meetinghouses, churches, and burial grounds are rich in history and all stops on the trail.

Improv Asylum– Located on 216 Hanover Street, The Improv Asylum is a great change of pace if you’re looking for a drink and good laugh. The shows are entertaining and interactive, often incorporating audience suggestions into the live skits.  Visit their website and browse the variety of different types of shows that are put on nightly.
